Foundation Program

Students normally complete 30 credits in their Foundation (U0) year. The Foundation Program year is the time to take introductory-level courses in a teachable subject area, as well as to explore areas that are not normally taken within B.Ed. programs (e.g., Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, etc.). Students should also investigate the possibility of taking one of the First Year Seminar courses offered by the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Science. In addition, in consultation with the Program Adviser, students may select courses from the recommended course list below or other courses. The list includes History, Geography, and Religious Studies courses that may be used toward the academic component of the Secondary Social Sciences course requirements. Also included are several French Second Language (FRSL) courses for which placement tests are required to determine the appropriate level.
